Vinotheque
We want you to discover the elements that are necessary for a good wine:
Water, soil, sun, plants and, of course, man.
∴
The Main river symbolizes the element of water
It was "inserted" in stainless steel into the shell limestone soil. Along the course of the river, glass images illuminated from below were "set" into the ground at the locations where the Hofkeller has vineyards: e.g. for the Hörsteiner Abtsberg, the Großheubacher Bischofsberg, the Würzburger Stein, the Abtswinder Altenberg.
∴
The vineyard floor is characterized by large monoliths
In the Vinothek, the first thing that catches the eye are the large erratic blocks. These symbolize the soil or terroir on which the vines grow. They stand for the minerality and complexity of the wine. The Staatlicher Hofkeller owns vineyards on the four types of soil used in Franconian viticulture: Urgestein, Sandstone, Shell limestone and Keuper.
∴
Brass rods act like sunbeams
Above the bottles, golden brass rods shine symbolically down from the ceiling - as a symbol of the sun, the mother of wine.
